August 1st deadlines

Hi all-
Usually I give a bit more of a heads up, but I just added these deadlines, they are closing to submissions today. I have noticed that quite a few deadlines seem be at the beginning or end of the month.

Many of the below festivals are unique. One features African filmmakers, one Ocean Films, one Chinese filmmakers in North America. Even so, most film festivals have a focus and guidelines for the films. A gentle reminder: read through the submission information for each festival. Make sure the festival matches your work, and that you are even eligible to submit. I have had conversations with filmmakers who zealously apply to everything without reading any text and festivals that have a narrow scope, unique format or other parameter and receive large amounts of entries they have to disqualify. Especially when festivals use submission platforms, it is all to easy to try to submit with one click. Many times on the submission platform page there are additional conditions to be met outside of the already uploaded material. Some require a permission form, entry form, email link to downloadable files, etc. It is not safe to assume that your entry is complete simply because you are using a submission platform.

best of luck,

tracy
