Ratma Film Festival- deadline approaching!

River Aire Ten Minute Amateur Film Festival- RATMA (UK) 4/30/13
Will be held at Leeds City College Keighley Campus. All profits will raise money for two charities, The British Heart Foundation and Stand Up To Cancer. The winners of each genre will then be featured at the RED CARPET event at the Keighley Picture House cinema, where prizes will be awarded, an overall winner announced, and the showing of the films in full. This event will be attended by several Hollywood stars to be announced soon, who will also be judging the overall winner award. We are looking for short film submissions from amateur film makers, of length of under 10mins duration. All genres. Upload on website or send by post.

 

DVD magazines

The other day I posted information about the Journal of Short Film. I then wondered if there were other DVD journals or magazines that accept submissions. I was familiar with Stash and Wholphin, but not shots. Even if you don’t submit they are worth checking out.

Stash
Stash is a monthly DVD magazine of animation, VFX and motion graphics for design and advertising. The back issue DVDs are available from their website. Filmmakers can submit their films for consideration.

Wholphin
Wholphin is a San Franciso based, quarterly DVD magazine. On their DVDs they show “short films, docs, instructional videos, foreign sitcoms, and other cinema hybrids that deserve to be seen on very expensive televisions”. Filmmakers can submit their films for consideration.

The Fifth Annual Long Day Short Film Festival  5/21/13
Celebrates the beginning of summer with a presentation of short films on the longest day of the year, June 21, 2013. The Festival is committed to exposing exciting new short films to wider audiences. Last year’s packed house watched submissions from filmmakers well established in the industry as well as directors and film students just starting out. Films will screen at the gala event on 6/21/2013 overlooking the San Francisco Bay at Rock Wall Wine Company in Alameda, California.

International Film Festival Primus (Slovenia) 5/15/13
History feature films and history documentary films produced in Slovenia or abroad can participate in the Festival. A DVD copy of the film must be submitted to the Festival in order to be viewed by the jury and screened. Films must be produced within the last two years. There will be two categories:history feature films and films on the theme of Healthy nature, healthy person. The category is chosen by the author, or by the jury if the other category is considered more appropriate.

Electric Lantern Motion Picture Festival (UK) 6/2/13
is open to submissions from the public in the categories of short and narrative features, documentaries, animations and music videos. Narrative and Documentary Feature Length Movies, Narrative and Documentary Short Movies, Music Videos, Animation For the purposes of this Festival, we have defined “short” as any movie under 65 minutes in length, and “feature” as any movie 65 minutes or over. The Festival only has the capacity to screen digital media (video files, DVD and BluRay sources). The Fesitval is encouraging people to submit their movies electronically to speed up the process, cut down on physical storage space and paper and physical media waste. This should be in the form a link to video file on either YouTube of Vimeo. Please ensure this link is not set to “Private” as we will not be able to view it.

Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival 7/20/13
From the selection up to 60 works will be nominated for three of the four prizes of the festival. All works chosen and presented in the exhibition Monitoring are automatically nominated for the award for the best media installation. We are looking for current films, installation concepts and proposals for audiovisual performances and VJ-Sets from the years 2012 and 2013. It is the mission of the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival to set an internationally recognized standard of excellence in film, video, and television production for children. The “Young Filmmaker” categories are for films produced by youth ages 18 & younger. Films considered for this category must be conceived and produced by children or youth with minimal adult input. (An adult supervisor is allowed if part of a group project.) There is no entry fee for Young Filmmakers. DVD or Youtube.

Gangrene Film Festival- 5 Second Film Festival 7/31/13
There will be NO ENTRY FEE for 5-second film submissions. You may submit a 5-second film even if you plan to enter other work into the festival; dual entries will not penalized in any way. We expect to play 10 to 20 5-second films in one swoop, so if your 5-second film is funny, you have a good chance of getting it into the show.

One Minute Film Challenge is a Film Competition to produce a micro film that is no longer than sixty seconds. Categories: Short Film, Animation, Mobile Film, Documentary, Machinima, Experimental, Title Sequence, Film Trailer, Ident, Advert. A public vote each month and at the end of the year the twelve selected films will be judged by the public to decide which film is the Winner of the prestigious Renderyard One Minute Film Challenge Award. You can submit as many films as you like.

9th Annual 60 Seconds or Less Video Festival (Washington College) 4/19/13

Montreal 60 second film festival   JULY REGISTRATION
A not-for-profit film festival that celebrates 60 second movies – and all those who gather the gumption to make them. There is no entry fee and filmmakers will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, registering at our launch party in mid July. The films, each sixty seconds long, will be screened three times, on September 13, 14 and 15, 2012, at the Cinéma Excentris. These films will each have been created by a different filmmaker or filmmaking team. The festival is open to all, regardless of filmmaking experience, and in fact we hope to attract amateurs and pros alike. We seek a wide variety of films, made by young and old, action heroes and animators, liars and documentarians – anyone with the will to bring their experiments to the screen.
