Censured In Canada 10.31/15
CENSURED IN CANADA is an underground film festival that aims to free limits on exhibition and expression in Canada. A platform for Canadian-based artists and work marginalized by Canadian festivals and institutions – whether it was due to a lack of “right” credentials / connections; or the work challenges aesthetic / cultural / social norms. We featured 21 premieres in our inaugural 2015 lineup. Since Canada’s Bill C-51 received ‘Royal Assent’ from Governor General in June 2015, any form of dissent that is not “in line with mainstream” or “causes a negative impact” on Canada’s economy can be deemed as an act of terrorism. CENSURED IN CANADA has become one of the few remaining places that aims to protect the remaining vestiges of freedom of art and expression in Canada. Submit online
