VI Janela Internacional do Cinema do Recife 7/8/13
The idea to open this Janela Internacional de Cinema in Recife (Janela means “window” in Portuguese) came from several concerns. The first one was to have a forum in the state of Pernambuco that offered a generous look at independent film production in all its available formats, wherever it might come from. Films of any genre produced in whatever format, after January 2012, may compete. The festival will screen HD, DCP and 35mm. Filmmakers submit a Vimeo or Youtube link and a password.

Germany after Dark 8/15/13
Late Deadline. First year of festival. Showcase of new horror movies. We will publish a ‘Germany After Dark’ cinema trailer that will be seen by more than 50,000 film fans. The press will also be involved (TV, newspapers & Radio). Our goal is to organize an event that is crossing borders- real borders. We will present new movies in English. Submit by FTP, dropbox or DVD.

An event for fraternizing and discovery, set-up for all those that are permanently looking for new auteurs, new films, new looks into the genre, and new experiences. The program offers the audience a selection of the films that have generated the most enthusiastic reactions all around the world in the last couple of years, in all possible variations of the genre – from supernatural to gore, from psychological horror to the monster movie, from blockbuster to indie, from classic to experimental, from cult to new tendencies.

We seek out film makers from the Caribbean globally or those who are not from the Caribbean but making films about this region to give the audience an extremely diverse range of films and stories to choose from. Ars Independent International Film Festival (Poland) 6/30/13

Women in Film and Television International Film Festival (Mexico City) 7/01/13
The objective of this film festival is to gather and exhibit the most representative works of audiovisual Mexican and foreign women short films, feature films, narrative, documentary, animation and experimental films, in film, video, television, and/or videoart formats. A WOMAN Director must have realized the projects presented. Projects should be presented in Spanish or with Spanish subtitles. DVD submission.

Lomo Cinema Competition 7/30/13
Ars Independent International Film Festival. A few years ago the idea of resurrecting an old lomo technology was born. The technology allows amateurs to take photos fast and cheaply. Not so long after LomoKino camera was introduced. Using LomoKino and any photo film you can shoot short films. Thirty-seconds length recordings made on one reel shall capture moments of ephemeral emotions. We would like Ars Independent to be associated not only with ambitious cinema, but also with free creation. Reaching out for your photographic and film interests, we are calling for entries to the Lomo Cinema section. So if you have LomoKino or any other camera, if you have basic filming skills and you are willing to present your film at Ars Independent IFF – submit your work.

Westerville Public Library Film Festival (Ohio) 8/9/13
Important: note the following criteria: Films must adhere to the time frames specified- this includes title and credits. Films that are too short or too long will be disqualified. Documentary: 5-10 minutes, Feature Film: 5-10 minutes, Music Video: 2-5 minutes, Book Trailer: 2-5 minutes. All entries must creatively make use of a book at some point in the film or mention a character from the book if creating a book trailer. Any published book may be used as well as any character from a published book. All entries must adhere to G or PG rating guidelines. Online Entry Form with Youtube submission.

LET’S CEE Film Festival 6/16/13
The Short Film Competition will give young filmmakers (up to 35 years of age) from Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Austrian ones, the opportunity to submit their first, second or third piece of work with a maximum length of 30 minutes and to present them in the Short Film category. The films featured in this competition can be submitted personally by their respective directors. The underlying theme of the Short Film Competition 2013 is the CIVIL SOCIETY. Currently, we are seeking all kinds of films and performance art pieces created by and/or about gender non-conforming and transgender people, experiences and images and/or work that challenges gender conforming attitudes, ideas or concepts. Non-trans people are also welcome to submit work to Gender Reel provided this work is reflective of our mission. Cartoon Brew Student Animation Festival 6/07/13 (deadline extended)
Our mission for the festival is simple: to draw attention to student-produced animated shorts and share them with the widest possible community of industry artists, fellow students and animation fans. And not just any student films, but films of the highest caliber…the most original, the most thought-provoking, the ones that make us laugh hardest and engage us emotionally. Of course, we present student films throughout the year on Cartoon Brew, but we want the festival to draw even more attention to the exciting work being produced by the art form’s emerging talents.

Open call to emerging artists in: Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Western Pennsylvania, Western New York, and Ontario, Canada. The sculptor, installation artist or expanded media artist must be enrolled in BFA or MFA or have graduated within the last two years. Submitted images should be of sculpture, installation or other expanded media (including time based) that indicates current work and may include a specific proposal for the SculptureX Emerging Artist Exhibition. Thematic documentary Film Festival «MOVEMENT» The festival acts as a privileged platform for intercultural exchanges, thinking and dialogue. Room is also given to photography and painting and music. Movement is the theme for 2013! What is the movement? Isn’t a film itself just the result of the magic of movement? A lot of documentaries are invited to join this year competition as the word “movement” is meant in its broadest sense, such as a movement of a body in the space, or transformation/evolution of feelings, ideas, behaviours, but also movement meant as a music, political, ideological, scientific, artistic or religious movement.
