Prix Ars Electronica 03/09/13
The Prix Ars Electronica is one of the world’s most coveted awards for creativity and pioneering spirit in the use of digital media. Since 1987, Prix Ars Electronica has been an interdisciplinary showcase honoring excellence in the use of the computer as a universal design medium in work at the interface of art, technology and society. Entries can be submitted in seven categories: Computer Animation / Film / VFX, Interactive Art, Digital Musics & Sound Art, Hybrid Art, Digital Communities, u19 – CREATE YOUR WORLD and [the next idea] voestalpine Art and Technology Grant.

Durban International Film Festival 03/13/13

The Durban International Film Festival (DIFF), invites filmmakers to submit their entries for its 34th edition which takes place from 18th to 28th July 2013. DIFF, the largest film festival in Southern Africa, features over 250 screenings of cutting-edge cinema from around the world with a special focus on films from South Africa and Africa. The festival hosts a film competition component and also presents screenings in township areas where cinemas are non-existent.

Firefox Flicks is an international film competition that invites Firefox fans and filmmakers to create short videos (or “flicks”) to help tell the world about the power of mobile. The world’s gone mobile. Getting mobilized means getting more connected to one another – so we can all go further. We’re bringing the values that Firefox has always championed in the browser to the devices that the next billion people will use as their primary gateway to the Web. With that in mind, the 2013 Firefox Flicks theme is “Get Mobilized.” That’s where you come in: help us inspire people to get mobilized for individual and collective progressYour flick can be a live-action film, an animation or a combination of both. North Carolina Family Film Festival 4/30/13* No fee for international entries
It is the mission of the North Carolina Family Film Festival to bring high-quality, multicultural films to Northeastern North Carolina, and create opportunities for citizens and youth of this rural area to exchange ideas and information with filmmakers from around the globe. DVD submission.

PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival 6/30/13
The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) again invite the world’s youth to submit original and creative videos focusing on PLURAL+ themes: migration, diversity and social inclusion. PLURAL+ is seeking for short videos, of up to 5 minutes. Entrants must be youth between the ages of 9-25. Preferably all videos should be submitted on DVDs, or through a file hosting website of choice (MediaFire, YouSendit,)

The 14th International Computer Graphics Conference – View Conference: View Awards (Italy) 09/15/13 DVD Submission
VIEW Conference, the premiere international event in Italy on Computer Graphics, Interactive Techniques, Digital Cinema, 2D/3D Animation, Gaming and VFX, is now calling for entries for the VIEW Award 2013 competition. Last year, the VIEW Award brought forth some astonishingly talented animators into the public and industry spotlight. Animated short with 2D/3D animation and VFX made in the last 2 years. Here’s the list of the 2013 VIEW Award competition categories: Best Short, Best Environment Design, Best Character, Best Digital Visual Effects.
