The goal of the TDFF is to provide Central Valley Californians with a chance to view the best in current domestic and international cinema that would not normally be made available to the area, all the while giving filmmakers the opportunity to experience one of the most fertile and creative regions on the planet. The festival will take place in downtown Modesto, celebrating the passion, energy and ingenuity of film. Our aim is to build a haven of inspiration for filmmakers and film fans, creating a yearly event that brings together those from within and outside the community. Documentary film festival that is concerned with cultural diversity. Rooted in visual anthropology, the festival screens documentaries on various (sub-)cultures offering discussions and seminars. The festival serves as a meeting place for filmmakers and audiences from different cultural backgrounds. All filmmakers will be present, and much attention is given to discussions between them and the audience. A special part of the program is devoted to student films and is open to students from all educational programs on visual anthropology or documentary filmmaking. Entry is open to any production that either deals with subjects of anthropology, sociology and social issues or fits the overall theme. DVD entry.

One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival (Prague) 11/15/13
Organized by People in Need. People in Need is a Czech non-profit, non-governmental organization. One World’s programme consists of two competition categories, a variety of non-competition categories and thematic categories, as well as Docs for Kids section. Films are chosen by One World’s selection committee. When selecting films, the committee concentrates equally on both human rights content and artistic quality.Films need to meet these criteria: documentary films or short animated films, feature, mid-length or short films, films provided with English subtitles or English spoken films, films made in last 2 years (2012 – 2014). upon prior agreement with the festival, unfinished films can be submitted. Days of ethnographic film festival (DEF) 12/01/13
Organized by Slovene ethnological society in cooperation with the Slovene ethnographic museum and Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The festival has following programs: Student films, Regular program and a Special program. All films and videos dealing with ethnology, anthropology, sociology or cultural studies in a wide sense, made not more than two years before the actual festival DEF, are eligible. Submit DVD and downloadable copy of film.

Göttingen International Ethnographic Film Festival 12/15/13 note: There is no submission fee for entries from East European (non EU) and “Third World” countries. The festival promotes documentary cinema with a special emphasis on new films, videos or interactive media (published after 1.1.2009) dealing with socio-cultural processes in a wide sense of the term. The festival is open to all filmmakers, but especially those coming from an anthropology, sociology, folklore, history etc. background . It provides a great opportunity for international exchange of ideas and co-operation in documentary filmmaking.

We accept short horror films of all horror genres such as Gore, Paranormal Terror, Psychological Terror, Horror Animation, Docu-horror, experimental horror, and shocking fiction. This year we will accept SHORT FILMS ONLY, and we are looking forward to include different films from different countries from different filmmakers. There will be three categories.
