XIV International Kansk Video Festival 5/15/15

The writer, director, cast, or theme of the short must be diverse, either: ethnically, culturally, or of a diverse voice or community. Examples of diverse and inclusive backgrounds include: female writers & directors, the LGBTQ community, and performers with disabilities. Short films must qualify under one of the following narrative genres: Comedy, Drama, Horror, or Sci-Fi. Any Docs, Animations or Music Videos are not eligible. Shorts must be 2-20 minutes in length. LIFE AFTER OIL International Film Festival 5/1/15
This festival starts with the intention of overshooting the simple exposure. Although it is important to raise public awareness on the risks connected to the exploitation and to the use of natural resource in the production of fossil fuels, still remains, the enormous and dramatic problem of the disasters caused by the lack of energy, with particular reference to the water supply, highly relevant to the world population. The main objective of the festival will be, therefore, not only emphasizing problems related to the use of fossil fuels, but especially identifying the alternatives which take into account, according to the present scientific knowledge, the several well-known methods of production. Film may feature the experiences, viewpoints, lifestyles, socio-economic position or stories of Black women, but it is not required for eligibility. Film was directed and/or produced by a Black woman/woman of the African diaspora (this includes women of the following groups/cultures: Adivasi, Aboriginal Australians, Dravidian, Pilipino Negrito / Ati, Seminole, Dalit, African Latino, Arawak, Carib, Garifuna, “Black Indian”, Black African groups/tribes, East Timorese, Solomon Islander/indigenous Pacific Islander, African/indigenous Caribbean, African Brazilian, indigenous Fijian, indigenous Maori, multi/bi-racial, et al.). Films should be timely, or directly feature issues, activities, politics, social issues that influence or impact the lives of Black women around the world. Skinny Short Film Competition 6/30/15 (UK filmmakers only)
To reflect The Skinny’s UK-wide presence, we’ve now opened our search to filmmakers from across the UK in a bid to find the best micro-budget short film (a short made for less than £1000) produced this year. We’ve teamed up with Olympus, who’ll present the winning filmmaker(s) with a package of film-making equipment worth over £3000. “We are delighted to be associated with The Skinny Short Film Competition and look forward to seeing some high quality entries,” said Mark Thackara of Olympus. “The winner will receive some exceptional new generation hardware.” As with last year’s competition, the winning filmmaker(s) will go on to make a second short film, which will receive its world premiere at the 2016 Glasgow Short Film Festival.
