Shooting a Film/Music Video / News/ Still Image on MOBILE PHONE, 3 minutes maximum, Shooting Technique: Mobile Phone (cell phone), Purpose: To unleash the creative spark of the participants by using nontraditional means of technology like the Cell Phone and create both motion and still imagery., The Task: Participants can shoot a Video (max. 3 minutes) or Still Picture using a mobile phone. The entries for the competition will revolve around the realm of: Fiction / Music Video, Reality / Electronic News Gathering, Still Image. Online submission.

Queer Moving Image Review (ongoing)
Queer Moving Image is an online exhibition space designed to showcase queer artists working in time-based visual media. We accept submissions on an ongoing basis. If you identify as queer lgbtq+ submit your piece here.

Samawah Cinema

Samawah Cinema (ongoing)
Samawah Cinema is offering a film distribution grant in the form of professional support, to filmmakers. Submissions should be feature films and/or long and short form animations, produced in 2017 that are not currently on any electronic distribution platform. Films should have English subtitles. Samawah Cinema is a cinematic center in Iraq, established by filmmakers, for filmmakers, in 2013. Our focus is short film production, consulting, support for independent films and distribution. We have an established cooperation with festivals in the Arab countries. In 2015, we began allocating distribution, as professional support of filmmakers to distribute films in Arab countries and the continent of Asia. We design and develop posters to market the film. We do not charge a fee, but share 2% of any financial prize. We provide feedback about the film’s progress, acceptance or rejection, through e-mail bulletins. Happy New Year to all!
Updates are in progress. Part of the process is eliminating festivals that now have a fee, and if I miss one, please let me know. One of these festivals, Chester Animation Festival -is now charging a 5.00 fee, which is not exorbinant, but is a fee none the less, and the Krakow Film festival charges a fee for non-Polish films (10 Euros).

Judged by a panel of industry luminaries, the CCI-IFF accepts genre-related films in the following categories: Action/Adventure, Animation, Comics-Oriented, Documentary (Pop Culture–Related), Horror/Suspense, Humor, and Science Fiction/Fantasy. 4 DVD’s- by mail.

Krakow Film Festival (KFF), 2/15/19
*note free submission only for polish films. The Krakow Film Festival aims to review and promote documentary, short animated and fiction films. The films are screened in four competitions as well as innon-competitive sections. Deadline

PROMOFEST opens the call for entries of SHORT OF THE YEAR – WINTER. Every season 50 works will be selected. The winner of each season will be awarded with 250 submissions to film festivals (for free) and will directly become one of the films selected for The Short of the Year. The grand prize consists in 1000 submissions to festivals (for free).

Farhang Foundation Short Film Festival 7/24/19 (11:59 PST)
The Festival caters to the art of short filmmaking that visualizes some aspect or aspects of Iranian “Heritage”, which includes the arts, culture, history, crafts geography, cuisine, and lifestyle. Calling on individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life to submit short films, less than 9 minutes in length, visualizing some aspect of Iranian art, culture, and heritage, that will inspire and spark the audience’s interest in learning more about Iranian culture. SUBMISSION OPENS APRIL 23RD.

Pugnant Film Series

Pugnant Film Series (ongoing)
The Pugnant Film Series is a nonprofit organization that organizes screenings of underground, dada & auteur cinema in Athens & Greece generally. We exhibit film screenings on streets, on squares, on cafes, on archaelogical sites, on overnight shows, on nomadic events and of course on cinemas. We are looking for films from UNDERGROUND, AUTEUR and DADA era. This is a continuous call. There are no restrictions on the duration of the film, the year of production or the genre. Contemporary Arab film production including feature and documentary films, as well as short films, experimental films and video art. The Budapest Architecture Film Days is now accepting submissions for its anniversary 10th edition, to be held in Budapest on 8-11 March 2018. We are looking for works in every genre, form and length, related to design, architecture, and built environment. The mission of the film festival is to generate a dialogue between architectural practice that finds inspiration in cinema, and cinema borrowing its subjects from architecture and the city.

Cinema Du Reel (Paris) 11/24/2017
International Festival of Documentary Films. Cinéma du Réel gives priority to cinematographic writing and approaches, in a broad understanding of documentary that can sometimes challenge the traditional borders of the genre, whatever the subject, length, format or form. Nonetheless we strongly insist that the Festival is not seeking news reports, current affairs programs, promotional or corporate films. Submission deadline for films completed after September 1st 2017.

International Underwater Film Festival (Serbia) 11/27/17
We are very pleased to announce the 21th International Underwater Film Festival in Belgrade, Serbia.This event will be held in December 2017. We will be honored to present your film or films to our audience. Films for the contest would have to be 2016. or 2017. production, with at least 30% underwater shots. The subject is free. Slim Cinema Film Festival 11/27/17
We are excited to announce another installment of Slim Cinema, NYC’s first and only vertical film festival, on December 2nd, 2017! This year we are hosting @ The Muse Brooklyn (350 Moffat St.) and it will be bigger and better with an expected crowd of 700-800 attendees! Our past events have showcased some of the most creative filmmakers and storytellers across the world to a packed house of over 400 attendees. Check out our last event here, here, and here! We would like you to participate in our third film festival dedicated to creating, sharing, and telling stories for the mobile age. CREATOR CHALLENGE: Create a visual piece shot in Vertical Composition that tells a narrative. Content can be shot using your equipment of choice (i.e. SLR, red, smartphone, etc.), but aspect ratio must be 9:16 for any submissions to be considered. We want to challenge your creativity to tell an original narrative through vertical visual storytelling. Have fun with it – be creative with the new aspect ratio. Keep in mind the constraints the narrower vertical format may bring to your content – and discover how you can disrupt visual narratives through powerful storytelling.

MOSI FEST is a Quarterly film festival with a panel of international jury members. Each month we will have one winner in every category. Please Follow these rules: Films should be completed in 2015 or later. Maximum Running time: 20 minutes. All genres accepted. Films from all countries are welcome. Only one film per director for each quarter can be accepted. Students and professionals are welcome. Films that are available online can participate as well. Films that have been sent to us previously are not eligible for next events.

DOCUDAYS UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival 11/30/17
Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival is held annually in the last week of March in Kyiv. On completion, Docudays UA traditionally presents the best movies in the regions of Ukraine within the Docudays UA Travelling Festival.

In this form you are submitting a short animated film for consideration to be screened on Tuesday November 28th, 2017 at the School Of Visual Arts as part of a short film event presented by ASIFA-East. This is a one time screening and no admissions will be charged. The program will not be screened elsewhere unless permissions is granted by the filmmakers at a later date.
