8th Athens International Digital Film Festival AIDFF 2/20/19
Our Festival, while progressing the idea of digital cinema, concludes fiction films, documentaries, animation, video art, video dance, experimental and student films that were created by using new digital media. Athens International Digital Film Festival stands as an international meeting point for creators and audience, since its very first year. Simultaneously it achieved an alignment with the major developments regarding cinema, which is steadily moving towards the Digital Age. Featured as an innovative Festival it soon experienced an unexpected response from many filmmakers around the world. Digital Cinema has created an unprecedented technological revolution in the film industry, also affecting television and internet. The ergonomics and availability of digital cameras along with the endless possibilities of digital editing expand the capabilities of modern filmmakers allowing them to achieve traditionally impossible things. Thus a vibrant community is rising all around the world of millions who are interested in cinema, which continues to gather heads and affect the other arts, which often borrow tools, technology and ideas inspired by cinema to create new art species. The Festival is organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the support of the City of Athens/ Opanda.
The Unprecedented Cinema – International Festival of Short Film 3/1/19
The festival is being conducted since the year 2001, and its task is to show as widely as possible, the condition of the contemporary audiovisual creations of young authors. Films from 70 countries were exhibited during the previous festivals.
The competition is divided into different age categories: fiction short films, animated short films, experimental short films, music video. The works of the cinema – institute students and the works of professional authors are judged separately.
Euganea Film Festival 3/17/19
EUGANEA FILM FESTIVAL takes place every summer, this year it will be from 20th to 30th June, presenting sections concerning Italian and foreign short films and documentaries as well as organizing the shooting in the most evocative areas of the villages involved and hosting directors is the organization’s task. Four sections:
a) International Short Film Competition, b) International Documentary Film Competition, c) International Animated Short Film Competition, d) International Virtual Reality Competition–Euganea VR
9th Cairo Video Festival 3/20/19
Medrar for Contemporary Art is accepting applications for the 9th Cairo Video Festival, which will take place in September, 2019. The 9th edition will focus on a new approach to venues scattered around the city. Programs will be screened among such venues, in addition to theatre screenings and exhibitions to promote, expand and harvest attention to the practice of video-making. Initiated by the Cairo-based artist initiative Medrar for Contemporary Art in 2005, the festival continues its focus on providing a platform for sharing and discussing newly produced video art and experimental film. The call is also open for curators and institutions involved in the production and distribution of video art and experimental films to submit their programs. The festival’s program takes the format of a concise series of video screenings, accompanied by talks and discussions with active video-makers and curators to tackle some of the key themes and issues presented in the works.
Xsection Film Festival 4/30/19
Xsection: A Dance and Science Film Festival sparking interdisciplinary collaboration between dance – science – film. The methodologies of scientific research and dance creation are abstract. Films can document visual forms and create a tangible record of these concepts. The vision of XSFF is to archive the expression of current scientific findings and instigate with dancemakers on topical scientific issues – space exploration – medical advancements- fundamental principles. The platform is open to interpretation as long as artists are collaborating across disciplines of science and dance. A night of interdisciplinary mingling.
