Cartoons Underground 6/30/16
Cartoons Underground was founded by Barfing Squirrel Productions; Patrick Smith and Vicky Chen. The two met 5 years ago at New York University Tisch asia, school of the arts in Singapore.
As the co-founder of Scribbled Junkies Festival of Drawn Animation with Bill Plympton in New York, Patrick was inspired to re-create this raw, casual and alternative scene in Singapore. Being a marketing and animation geek, Vicky had the skills and contacts to organise the festival.

CENSURED IN CANADA is a space for Canadian-based artists & films marginalized and rejected by Canadian festivals and institutions – whether it was due to a lack of the “right” credentials / connections; or the work challenges aesthetic / cultural / social norms. We premiered 21 films of diverse genres and styles in Jan 2015 for our inaugural festival.
