Important: note the following criteria: Films must adhere to the time frames specified- this includes title and credits. Films that are too short or too long will be disqualified. Documentary: 5-10 minutes, Feature Film: 5-10 minutes, Music Video: 2-5 minutes, Book Trailer: 2-5 minutes. All entries must creatively make use of a book at some point in the film or mention a character from the book if creating a book trailer. Nile’s Diaspora International Film Festival 9/30/13
NDIFF competition categories are: Best Narrative Feature, Best Narrative Short, Best Documentary Feature, Best Documentary Short, Festival Programmer’s Award and People’ Choice Award and with the exception of People’ Choice Award, all films are judged by an independent panel. We are actively engaging the African Diaspora community through this festival and other artistic staged events with a view to helping contribute in various grassroots developmental endeavors within the various African communities. We’re here to present the newest and best relevant films from around the world, and ensure that our audience learns something along the way about other cultures, about the topic at hand, and about the experience from the filmmakers themselves. We seek entries from novice and experienced filmmakers this is a great chance to showcase your short animated films. XII St.Petersburg International Festival of Debut and Student Films BEGINNING 7/1/13

Pool Festival 7/4/13
POOL is a recurring format for dance- and animation film. Aiming for becoming a platform for dancer, choreographers, directors, artists, organizers and other interested people, POOL offers space for exchange of experiences, developing and advanced training, and presentation. German or English or subtitled in one of the two languages. Videos and films that enter the contest should not be longer than 30 minutes. Please send us two completely labled DVDs (one copy for viewing and one for presentation with video file in good compression).

The Duhok International Film Festival (Duhok, Kurdistan) 7/10/13
Submissions should fall into these categories:Feature films: narrative fiction features from around the world and Kurdistan (Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Syria) with a minimum length of 60min. Documentaries: documentary films from around the world with a minimum length of 60min and from Kurdistan with a minimum length of 30min. Short Films: the short film with a maximum length og 30min can be narrative fiction or documentary and has to be produced in Kurdistan, be an Kurdish co-production or at least have a Kurdish director.

MIX Copenhagen 6/15/13

The 22. dokumentART – European Festival for Documentaries  takes place from 18th to 22th October 2013 in Neubrandenburg and Szczecin simultaneously. The festival showcases current European documentary films in formats that range from the traditional to the experimental. The main focal point of the festival is the European Competition, in which films of up to 60 minutes in length compete for a total of eight prizes. DVD submission.
