Poor Yorick: A Journal of Rediscovered Objects (ongoing)
We are currently seeking visual media submissions. We’re looking for individual photos, photo essays, slideshows,  and short films. Poor Yorick is a free online journal published by Western Connecticut State University’s MFA Program in Creative and professional writing. The journal partners with museums both nationally and internationally and works with writers and artists in various disciplines to help shed light on lost or forgotten objects and pieces of material culture.We accept submissions online. We accept submissions year round but are currently seeking photo and film submissions for our launch in the Fall of 2014. Online submissions.

Anibar Animation Festival

Anibar International Animation Festival (Kosovo) 5/1/14
Anibar International Animation Festival is the only festival of the kind in Kosov0, and one of the greatest events in the country. Since the beginning, the festival is organized and held in various settings in the city of Peja. Less than 30 minutes long (including credits). All films must be presented in Original Language, and must be subtitled in English. Online submission form or reelport.

Pool Festival 7/4/14
POOL is a recurring format for dance- and animation film. Aiming for becoming a platform for dancer, choreographers, directors, artists, organizers and other interested people, POOL offers space for exchange of experiences, developing and advanced training, and presentation. German or English or subtitled in one of the two languages. Videos and films that enter the contest should not be longer than 30 minutes. Please send us two completely labled DVDs (one copy for viewing and one for presentation with video file in good compression).

Iranian Film Festival (San Francisco, CA) 7/15/14
Showcase for the independent feature and short films made by or about the Iranians from around the world. DVD submission. The films should be related to Iran by any filmmaker from any country, or made by any Iranian filmmaker on any subject. There is NO restriction in topics or length. The festival is open to all genres: fiction, documentary, short, animation, music video.

Temps D’Images Film Award for Films on Art 07/15/14
First or second work of Portuguese filmmaker; Portuguese Student film; Portuguese and International filmmaker. Films on art and artists. Submissions on DVD PAL (Eurozone). Producers and filmmakers can submit more than one film.

Kalamazoo Bicycle Film Festival (Michigan) 04/21/14
The festival is a celebration of bicycles and the culture that surrounds them. The films feature a wide spectrum of experiences, stories and images of bicycling. Some will make you laugh. Some will make you think. The common theme is that they are all for, about or inspired by bicycles.

Fantoche- International Animation Festival (Switzerland) 5/24/14
Fantoche is looking for the very best and most interesting short animated films from around the world. We are on the lookout for daring ideas, new pictures, surprising stories and ambitious projects by both newcomers and established film-makers.  Films by Swiss directors are automatically entered into the “Swiss Competition” as well. The “International Competition” is open to films made applying all animation techniques, including a combination of live action and animation, lasting a maximum of forty minutes and completed after 31 March 2012. ALFILM (Berlin) 11/30/13
Contemporary Arab film production including feature and documentary films, as well as short films, experimental films and video art. We accept narrative features, documentary films and short films which were directed by an Arab filmmaker, have been produced or co-produced in an Arab country or handle an issue that relates to the Arab world. DVD submission.

This year New York City is hosting the second annual ALL-AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL FILM FESTIVAL, giving students a chance to showcase their short films on the big screen. Online submission preferred.

Ripple Effect Film Project- Call for films on water conservation

Filmmakers of all ages and levels of experience are invited to create original short films about water conservation and water stewardship. The finalists’ films will make a splash on the big screen at the 2014 Blue Carpet Premiere to be held Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Cine.  It is a featured event of the EcoFocus Film Festival.
