NoiseFloor is an interdisciplinary event with a focus on experimental composition. Submissions are invited from composers, academics, practitioners, individual researchers, postgraduates and any other interested parties. Note: there is a registration fee to present at the conference, but no submission fee.
Faultline Film Awards will return in fall 2020
Submissions must be from local (Utah) filmmakers or be films about the outdoors in Utah. The Wasatch Mountain Range holds a special place in the hearts of Utah outdoors folk. Mount Timpanogos, Lone Peak, Ben Lomond; each peak presents its own story, its own challenge. Learning the language these mountains speak is something worth striving for and is possible for any Wasatch adventurer, so long as they know how to listen right. We at Wasatch Mag highly value the language of the Wasatch mountains, which is why we created Faultline Film Awards – to give filmmakers and adventurers the opportunity to tell their stories through film.
Cortex International Film Festival taking a yearlong hiatus.
Córtex Film Festival is accepting short films in video format produced in either 2017, 2018 or 2019, with a maximum running time of 30 minutes, including credits. Films must fall within the following genres: fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental. Córtex Film Festival contemplates the following competitions when accepting submissions: National Competition (for films previously presented in other festivals), National Competition (for premieres), International Competition, Mini Córtex – An international competition that is comprised exclusively of animated films dedicated to the younger audience.
Crossing Europe (Linz, Austria) 1/03/20* European or Austrian only
Since 2004, the CROSSING EUROPE Film Festival Linz has devoted its program each year in April to idiosyncratic, contemporary and socio-political auteur cinema from Europe. Over the six days of the festival, CROSSING EUROPE offers international film and press representatives and guests of the film industry (nearly 700 accredited festival participants) and the Austrian audience a program with approximately 160 outstanding, hand-picked fiction films and documentaries.
Anifilm’s mission is to present current trends, methods, technologies and animation techniques in its programme. It also supports works in progress and brand new animation projects and their authors, producers and distributors. Film professionals from all over the world can use Anifilm as a platform for positive confrontation and meeting place for forging new contacts. Anifilm is aimed at authors and film professionals as well as students, educators, film theorists and all fans of animated production, including children. Anifilm also wants to represent the Czech Republic, South Bohemian Region and the town of Třeboň in international context on a long-term basis.
MayDay Film Festival1/06/20 * no fee for early submissions until January 6th
Originated from the Filmmakers Club out of the University of Southern Indiana. It was made to showcase work of its club members to the local student body. Each year, Mayday has grown into a much large festival adding in non-students into the festival and even filmmakers as far as the opposite end of the United States.
Kristiansand International Children’s Film Festival (Norway) 01/10/20
Kristiansand International Children’s Film Festival (KICFF) is Norway’s largest film festival aimed at children and youth. The target group is age 3-19. The festival takes place in Kristiansand, Southern Norway. The festival accepts features, documentaries, animation films and short films from all over the world. Note that we only welcome film entries of films which have had their first official screening on January 1st 2019 or later.
Monstra: Lisbon Animated Film Festival 1/12/20
MONSTRA is an event where animated film meets other media and arts, aiming to present, disseminate,experiment and discuss ideas, crossing over new artistic approaches and forms, on which animated film is the narrative and aesthetic expression. The Festival’s main goal is to present and promote the best animated films made all over the World. Submission for the National Competition.
ANIMAKOM (hereinafter: the Festival) is specialised International competition of animated films, taking place in Bilbao from 2 to 8 April 2019. Festival’s submissions are open to films applying all animation techniques, including combinations with live action. Over 50% of the production must be animated, and the Festival reserves the right to determine whether an entry qualifies as animation.
goEast film festival 1/15/20
Every year, goEast transforms State Capital Wiesbaden into one of the most important international centres for Central and Eastern European cinema. Around 110 feature films, documentaries and short films, covering the seven sections of the festival, will be screened to appeal to both professional visitors and local cinema audiences alike over the seven festival days. As a project of Deutsches Filminstitut, goEast has dedicated itself to the task of bringing the diversity and richness of Central and Eastern European cinema into “the heart of the West” and reinforcing these films’ place in public consciousness. In spite of critical success at international festivals, Central and Eastern European films are still under-represented in regular cinemas.
Kent County Teen Film Festival 1/17/20
All Kent County teens in grades 6-12 are invited to enter films in the Kent County Teen Film Festival. A jury will review all submitted entries and select films to be screened at the Festival. Prizes will be awarded for the best films in various categories. The Kent County Teen Film Festival is free and open to the public.
Fifes Comedy Film Festival(Zagreb, Croatia) 1/20/20
The purpose of the festival is to encourage and promote human serenity, joy and laughter, as an important factor condition of the human spirit. In this way we will promote one of the human qualities, which in this time of hustle and weight of life is very important, but often neglected. The various authors will present the Croatian public their creative work, and the cheerful atmosphere to socialize with their peers and their contribution to positively influence the development of film production and culture in Croatia.
International Film Festival for Children and Youth 1/20/20
KINOLUB is an international film festival organized since the year 2015 by the IKS Foundation in the cities of Southern Poland – including small villages, where the screenings are held in local cultural institutions. The focus is also set on film education and that is the event’s unique and important feature, which is developed as well in other endeavors run by the Foundation. Most of all, KINOLUB is a celebration of films produced for children and youth. Each year in June different cities offer festival screenings to audiences between 4 and 18 years of age. The program includes motion pictures from all over the world – rich in artistic quality and conveying important messages. The aim is to create an environment for young people to actively and keenly participate in the cultural life and to develop new mindful audiovisual audiences.
