Animafest Zagreb 2/1/18
The World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb, established in 1972, is the second oldest film festival in the world completely dedicated to animation. Launched thanks to the global reputation of the filmmakers sprung from the Zagreb School of Animation, founded based on the decision of ASIFA, International Animated Film Association, Zagreb Film production company and City of Zagreb, Animafest Zagreb takes place every year early in June. Until 2005 the festival was held biennially, and afterwards continued in the annual rhythm, devoting even years to short film and odd years to feature film. After Zagreb Film and Zagreb Concert Management, in 2007 the festival organisation was taken over by the private production company Hulahop with the aim of further development and balancing the programme with the requirements of contemporary tendencies, approaching broader audiences and providing added values to professionals.

Dead by Dawn 2/1/18
Dead by Dawn is the UK’s longest running genre film festival, established in 1993. It is a unique festival, celebrating the finest independent film-making with a focus on emerging talent. Transilvania International Film Festival (Romania) 2/1/18
(TIFF) is organized by Romanian Film Promotion and it is the first international feature film festival in Romania. The main objective of Transilvania IFF is to promote the cinematic art by presenting some of the most significant films of the moment, films which exhibit not only originality and independence of expression, but also unusual forms of cinematic language and modern trends of the young culture. Noisefloor  2/2/18

SUNDAY SHORTS is a monthly short film festival and script competition in London. A great place for filmmakers and people interested in film to meet and discuss ideas. Each month, we select the 8 of the short films from around the world, and curate a program to be screened on the last Sunday of that month. *FEBRUARY SPECIAL – we’re offering FREE and discounted submissions to London filmmakers until 7th February!

Appalachian Film Festival 2/09/18
Attention Appalachian Filmmakers. Somerset Community College’s Harriett Simpson Arnow Conference will hold its first Appalachian Film Festival as a part of its 2018 conference. The fest will consider films under 30 minutes in length for inclusion into the Conference fest. The event will take place on Friday, April 6th and 7th, 2018. There is no submission fee. All films from filmmakers who reside in the Appalachian states of Kentucky, Tennessee, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi will be considered. The fest will accept films of any genre including documentaries and animated shorts. While submissions focusing on the Appalachian experience are encouraged, it is not required for entry.1414

Cortex International Film Festival 2.9/18

Lovett School High School Film Fest 2/11/18
Festival was created to encourage and inspire young filmmakers from around the world by providing them both a venue to publicly screen their short films and a place to connect with one another. Films must have a max running time of 15 minutes and have been written, directed and edited by teens ages 13-18.

UPIKE Film & Media Arts Festival 2/11/18 *note: Films from Kentucky, Virginia, and West Virginia can be submitted for free. Montreal Underground Film festival 2/14/18
MUFF celebrates low-budget, experimental, underground filmmaking and promotes those who challenge the constraints and conventions of mainstream Hollywood. MUFF is a collective of independent filmmakers, writers, teachers and cinephiles committed to seeking out edgy films bristling with a sense of creative freedom, energy and experimentation. Films in any way affiliated with a major motion picture studio, and “calling-card” films (aka, slick, thinly disguised shout-outs to the commercial industry), are ineligible.

Krakow Film Festival (KFF), 2/15/18

Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2/15/18
The Annecy International Animation Film Festival (French: Festival International du Film d’Animation d’Annecy, abbreviated as AIAFF) was created in 1960 and takes place at the beginning of June in the town of Annecy, France. Initially occurring every two years, the festival became an annual event in 1998. It is one of the four international animated film festivals sponsored by the Association Internationale du Film d’Animation(or ASIFA, the International Animated Film Association).

Niederrhein Filmfestival 2/15/18
A film festival held in the beautiful city of Wesel in Germany. The purpose is to promote and circulate short films and to generate contacts between audience, young directors and professionals, giving special attention to dutch short films. At the same time, it will be the first borderland film festival exclusively showing Dutch films within a competition on German soil. The festival is based on the basic idea: act locally, think European.

this is the Hamburg ShortFilmFestival calling! Calling for your entries to be precise. Please head over to our entry form and submit your new films. We are looking forward to seeing every single one of them. And please make sure to submit your film with burned in english subtitles if the language is any other than english. Not quite the same procedure as every year, though, since as of this year we will only be accepting submissions via our own website (here is the entry form, by the way) and not rely on external submission platforms. We hope this will make the whole submission process easier and more clear cut than before.

The Tulsa International Animation Festival 2/16/18
Features short film animations submitted locally and from around the world. Animations may be stop-motion, Claymation, 2-D animation, 3-D animation or cut-outs, to name a few. Videos MUST be 5:00 minutes or less. We will not accept any entries that are trailers for a longer animated film. It must be the original (5min or less) film.

First Nations Fiom and Video Festival 2/17/18

Carballo interplay 2/18/18

Pine River Student Film Festival 2/18/18
Now in it’s second annual cycle, the Pine River Student Film Festival is back! The 2018 edition, planned and directed by Alma College student Zachary Baker. Just like last year, Audience Awards will be presented to the films that receive the most votes at each category’s screening. Grand Jury Awards will be granted to the films that PRSFF’s panel of judges, world-class scholars and critics, decide are the best of each category. The TV ONE SCREENPLAY COMPETITION 2017 is meant to encourage and promote the production of creative, contemporary, engaging and relatable screenplays that can be turned into original movies for television. The competition is meant to: Encourage filmmakers to offer a fresh perspective and submit contemporary stories with a focus on the American black cultural experience with wide audience appeal. Encourage filmmakers to creatively center around entertaining, heart-felt and relatable topics that resonate and appeal to African American audiences. goEast film festival 2/26/18
Our OPPOSE OTHERING! program for ethical filmmaking will go into its third round in 2018. This year, instead of giving out production grants we will focus on developing an environment where minorities have an equal place within filmmaking and diversity is respected, both in Eastern Europe and Germany. During goEast 2018 participants and experts from different fields will engage in discussions, workshops, networking events and case studies. OO! is looking for courageous and constructive social justice warriors to participate in the 2018 program and become part of an international network fighting to oppose othering and make inclusion a normality. We invite young professionals with a background in filmmaking, production, distribution, festival or cultural management from Central and Eastern Europe, as well as from Germany, who want to shape the future of filmmaking in their own countries and develop ways to involve minorities in the process.

Animator: International Animated Film Festival 2/26/18
INTERNATIONAL ANIMATED FILM FESTIVAL ANIMATOR is oscar® qualifying festival. It’s the biggest cultural event in Poland devoted to animation. Kino w Trampkach [Cinema in Sneakers] – a fresh and buzzing project – is organised by Cinemania Foundation. We started off in 2013 with big hopes and enthusiasm that only crazy, uncontrollable film buffs have.
